Monday, March 11, 2013 @ 6:30pm: Dr. Conchúr Ó Giollagáin from the National University of Ireland, Galway, will speak in Irish at the CUNY Graduate Center (Room 8106) on the following topic, “An dóchas agus an dúshlán i bhféiniúlacht teanga na hÉireann: Claochluithe cultúrtha sa ré iarchoilíneach.”

Tuesday, December 4, 2012: Máire Ní Neachtain from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, spoke at Lehman College, CUNY, in English to an audience of over 40 attendees on the topic of “The Road Ahead: An Ghaeltacht as a bedrock for Irish-speaking communities of the future?”. We heard much excellent feedback from participants and refreshments were enjoyed by all afterwards in the Music Building.

Monday, December 3, 2012: Máire Ní Neachtain from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, spoke at CUNY Graduate Center in Irish to an audience of about 20 attendees on the topic of “An Ród seo Romhainn: An Ghaeltacht mar fhoinse do phobail Ghaeilge amach anseo?” It was great to have so many fluent Irish speakers together in one room and refreshments and conversation were enjoyed afterwards at Brendan’s Pub around the corner.

Monday, November 12. 2012: Rhona Ní Chearbhaill our 2012-2013 Visiting Lecturer spoke at CUNY Graduate Center in Irish to an audience of about 15 attendees on the topic of “‘Fill Arís’: Léargas liteartha agus eitneagrafaíochta ar an aisimirce go ceantar Gaeltachta Chonamara”. She spoke of her current research in the area of return immigration to the Gaeltacht areas and the lecture was well received by those in attendance.
