Irish Language Literature and the Folklore of Ireland
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 22-24 February 2018
The Irish Language Program of the Department of Languages and Literatures invites you to participate in a symposium entitled “Irish Language Literature and the Folklore of Ireland” which will take place on the campus of CUNY Lehman College 23-24 February 2018. Our plan is to bring together researchers and students of Irish language literature interested in the Folklore of Ireland. Those interested in participating should send a proposal, in the form of an electronic attachment, to firstname.lastname@example.org . We will consider proposals for individual papers as well as proposals for panels made up of three people and focusing on a common topic. The length of the proposal should not exceed approximately 250 words and should include the name of the participant, his or her academic affiliation, contact information, and the title of the paper. Also indicate if any equipment (screens, projectors, etc.) will be necessary for your presentation. The length of each presentation should not exceed 20 minutes. Papers may be presented in Irish or in English. Please indicate the language of your choice and write the proposal in that language. At least half of the accepted papers will be in Irish as will the keynote. No translation services will be provided at the conference. Papers will not be read in absentia. The deadline for sending proposals is 1 December 2017, and all submissions will be acknowledged. Notices of acceptance from the organising committee will go out by 1 January 2016. Once a proposal is accepted, participants should pay a registration fee of $50. Registration fee includes one continental breakfast and two lunches as well as tea/coffee breaks. At the time of registration, participants will be able to indicate if they would like to optionally have dinner together Friday evening at a local Irish restaurant. Our Web page will have information about lodging, transportation, etc.
